Purpose

• Ensures the suspension system, axles and tires move in the same direction.

 

Why is it important?

• Safety -- When wheels are not aligned correctly, it can cause the vehicle to pull to one side, making it more difficult to control.

• Money -- Improper wheel alignment can cause cause uneven tire wear, which can lead to the need for premature replacement of tires.  If you've recently purchased a new set of tires, getting an alignment now will help maximize tire life.  In addition, incorrect alignment can increase fuel consumption by making the engine work harder to overcome the added resistance of misaligned wheels.
